Bespoken: On-line Made to measure

While preparing some outfits for the blog, I was approached by boys from Bespoken some time ago. Those boys promised a made to measure shirt based only on the measures you’ll provide online and voilá. In 3 weeks you have it in your hand. As you can never say no to a crisp, fresh white shirt, I immediately went for herringbone white mid-weight cotton.

When I received my package, I decided to give it a “testing” day. My new shirt had quite a hard time in London where I’ve been months back from now. Woke up at 4.30 AM and went to bed after 11.00 PM. The whole time I was wearing it together with my MTM suit. I must say I feared of a result as all my measurements have been entered through the internet by myself and not by an experienced tailor. However, the shirt fit is excellent - just right I’d say, maybe a little bit tighter underarms as this is always a tricky part of the shirt.

Nevertheless, I’m glad that shirt is cut high underarms and allows you more movement, this is a good strategy. Also, guys kept a bit more fabric in the seams in case it needs to be extended or altered. I’m satisfied with the result as I prefer to have different fits inside the closet. Sometimes you want to go for the tight fit, sometimes a little bit more relaxed.

The only thing which I missed is the touch of humanity and the feeling of the fabric in my hand. However, photos and description of material over the website was quite detailed, and everyone should pick easily. It is an excellent choice for people who don’t have time to visit a tailor. Now it is up to you whether you like to visit your tailor in person or you will choose this modern approach.

When entering measurements, I recommend to measure several shirts where you like the fit and make a compromise between those. It can, however, be a little bit more tricky for someone who doesn’t have much experience with menswear or tailoring yet. In that case, never hesitate to contact their online support.

And outfit I went for when I took some pictures with it? Well, It was quite warm outside, therefore I couldn’t miss my favourite off-white cotton chinos and navy made to measure blazer. This white and navy combination always means summer to me, especially with tan loafers which are super versatile. And then I made myself happy with pulling out my favourite tie, which I don’t often wear these days. I’d say that this outfit is flattering to the shirt in the right way.

Now, you are a little bit wiser that there is a possibility to get an MTM shirt while sitting on the sofa, it may come handy while in quarantine. Do you already have experience with MTM clothes ordered online?

Yours Sincerely,

Denis
