Do you need a second pair of trousers?

Most of us know it; every time we order a new MTM or Bespoke suit from a tailor, we're being asked if we wish to have a second pair of trousers with the suit. Surely, trousers will wear out faster than the jacket, but do you really need them?

Firstly, my personal experience is that I never took them and I never regret it. However, I talked with Michal Trnka, a tailor from The Owners atelier in Prague, to learn more about this subject.

And he pretty much confirmed my presumptions. It's not truly necessary if you not decide to have ultra-slim trousers. In that case, trousers will wear out pretty fast as most of the wool materials are not "elastic", and even in a shorter period of time, there can appear a hole on your back part.

This makes a timeless silhouette not even more flattering as I try to show you on this blog. Furthermore, such a suit has a significantly higher chance to survive for many years to come as surely is one of the reasons you are spending money for it in the first place.

Without further additions, keep that in mind when buying your next suit, and next time someone will ask you to buy a second pair of trousers.

Yours Sincerely,

Denis
