Stylish Minds to Follow: Where to Find Genuine Menswear Inspiration
In a world full of fast trends, finding the right inspiration is essential for building a timeless wardrobe. Whether it’s mastering creative layering, investing in quality, or curating pieces that endure, the right people can guide you along the way.
Even for those of us immersed in the industry, it’s not always easy to identify individuals who recommend based on real experience rather than fleeting hype. For beginners—or even seasoned enthusiasts—it’s tempting to spot an eye-catching piece like tartan trousers, fatigues, or a cowboy-style hat, instantly fall in love, and try to incorporate it into our wardrobe. But often, we’re disappointed when it doesn’t look as good on us as it did on them.
Why? We overlook the deeper principles of style—the rules that anchor their outfit or the reason their style works in the first place. Without understanding these nuances, those beloved pieces can end up unworn, collecting dust in the closet.
This is why following the right people is so powerful. The right inspiration doesn’t just make you want to shop; it helps you save time, avoid mistakes, and make thoughtful decisions that lead to a wardrobe you’re proud to wear. It’s about learning how to look good and knowing why it works.
In this post, I’ll share my favorite accounts—both international and local (Czech)—that exemplify timeless menswear, practical advice, and authentic inspiration. Whether you’re into classic tailoring, rugged heritage pieces, or modern minimalism, these are the people who’ll inspire and guide your menswear journey.
International aficionados
Jamie Ferguson aka JKF MAN
First on my list is Jamie Ferguson, a menswear and lifestyle photographer with an enviable sense of style. Not only does he capture incredible looks behind the lens, but his own combinations often outshine those he photographs—a true menswear aficionado. Jamie’s ability to blend classic tailoring with effortless casual touches sets him apart. Paired with his characteristic humor, his content is as entertaining as it is inspiring. Following him feels like a masterclass in understated elegance and style.
Simon Crompton and his Permanent Style
Next is Simon Crompton, the mastermind behind Permanent Style and one of the most respected reviewers in menswear. Simon’s expertise lies in his in-depth exploration of craftsmanship, heritage, and quality. From world-renowned artisans like Liverano & Liverano to Savile Row tailors and Parisian legends like Cifonelli, Simon’s reviews cover the pinnacle of sartorial excellence.
What makes him stand out is his practical advice on building a wardrobe, understanding dress codes, and spotting true craftsmanship. Recently, he’s leaned toward less formal menswear—a shift I find both refreshing and useful for the average reader.
Maximilian Mogg is a truly inspiring figure—a young man who began his journey as an apprentice in the English tailoring world before founding his own atelier in Berlin. He’s managed to make classic tailoring appealing to younger generations, a feat I greatly admire.
While his style leans toward a bold and unapologetically English aesthetic, it’s his dramatic flair that stands out. His evening wear, long coats, and flannel suits are deeply classic yet uniquely his. Although more suited to enthusiasts than the average reader, his work serves as a reminder of where style evolves from. Perhaps in the next two years, I’ll find myself in Berlin for a fitting. Until then, his creations are a fantastic source of inspiration.
Andreas Weinas was once one of my most-watched menswear figures, and for good reason—almost no one wears formal attire with the same elegance and precise tailoring. His fits consistently showcase how bespoke and made-to-measure garments can enhance an individual’s presence.
However, for reasons I can’t fully pinpoint, I’ve found his casual looks less captivating. Perhaps it’s the way he presents them with the same formality as his tailored pieces. Still, Andreas remains an incredible resource for anyone focused on perfecting formalwear with great cuts and exceptional style.
Brands with great styling worth following
While brands naturally promote their own fits and designs, there’s still much to learn from their impeccable styling. Observing how they combine textures, colors, and cuts can be incredibly insightful—even if we don’t replicate the looks piece-for-piece.
Drake’s exemplifies relaxed tailoring with a playful edge. Known for their ties, pocket squares, and unstructured jackets, they offer a mix of formal and casual styles rooted in craftsmanship. Their approach makes menswear both accessible and aspirational.
Casatlantic draws inspiration from mid-century Morocco, creating high-waisted trousers and vintage-style casual wear with a focus on heritage details and breathable fabrics. Ideal for a retro yet refined wardrobe.
However, it is their occasional drops of knitwear that gives me the itch.
Ralph Lauren is a powerhouse in menswear, offering three distinct sub-brands that cater to various styles while maintaining timeless appeal:
Polo Ralph Lauren – The foundation of the brand, blending preppy staples with sporty influences. From classic polos to knitwear, it’s versatile and perfect for casual and semi-formal wardrobes.
Ralph Lauren Purple Label – The pinnacle of luxury, showcasing impeccable tailoring, premium fabrics, and a more formal, refined approach to menswear. A true symbol of sartorial excellence.
RRL (Double RL) – Inspired by vintage Americana, this line focuses on rugged workwear and western aesthetics, offering durable and characterful pieces for a heritage-driven wardrobe.
Together, these lines provide unparalleled diversity, making Ralph Lauren a cornerstone for any menswear enthusiast.
Giuliva Heritage specializes in timeless Italian tailoring with a focus on sustainability. Known for its structured outerwear and elegant designs, the brand fuses classic menswear elements with contemporary sophistication.
While most of the brands on this list lean toward formal or tailored menswear, it’s worth pointing out Filson, founded in 1897. With its rich history and focus on durable workwear and western-inspired clothing, Filson is a fantastic source of inspiration for enthusiasts who want to explore rugged, functional menswear. Their pieces, from waxed jackets to heritage bags, reflect craftsmanship and utility while exuding timeless appeal. Filson proves that menswear doesn’t always have to be formal to be stylish and enduring.
Czech aficionados
Michal Trnka from The Owners
Michal Trnka, from the made-to-measure atelier The Owners, is not only my favorite tailor but also a friend and one of the most stylish men in the Czech Republic. Michal has an incredible talent for spotting those "spicy details"—the subtle touches that can elevate an outfit from ordinary to exceptional without crossing into gimmicky territory.
Whether it’s a small tweak in fit or a perfectly balanced accessory, Michal knows how to ensure the desired style works seamlessly. He’s also the person I trust most for resolving any style dilemmas. I vividly recall Michal working at a tailor where I had my second made-to-measure shirt crafted. Looking back on our styles then, I’m reminded how crucial it is to keep evolving. Michal’s insight and his journey to refine his craft make him an endless source of inspiration.
Marek Černý, a former blogger, has become one of the most reliable voices when it comes to shoes and their restoration. Beyond that, he’s arguably the loudest preppy enthusiast in Czechia—and he wears it well. Preppy has always been his strength, and he’s doubled down on perfecting it, creating outfits that are both classic and inventive.
Though his following may not be huge, I’m always eager to see his latest looks, which often feature combinations I’d never think of but absolutely admire. Just recently, we discussed hiking boots, and his insights have me itching to get a pair after Christmas!
Sartorial Prague draws inspiration from global sartorial clubs, offering a platform for enthusiasts to share their passion for classic style. Through monthly gatherings, complete with drinks, dinners, and detailed reports, it showcases the vibrant menswear community in the Czech Republic. It’s a testament to how many individuals here are committed to refining their style and embracing sartorial excellence. The profile captures not only outfits but also the camaraderie of those who share a deep appreciation for timeless elegance.
Of course, not everyone deserving of a mention could make it onto this list—there’s only so much space, and the world of menswear inspiration is vast. For this selection, I’ve chosen accounts and brands that promote slightly different styles and reflect those I personally enjoy following.
That said, there are countless others worth exploring, which might be a topic for another time. If you’re looking for inspiration in a specific field of menswear, feel free to drop me a message or leave a comment—I’d be happy to recommend something tailored to your interests!
