How to wear hoodie like a grown-up

Menswear is becoming more and more casual throughout the years, no doubt of that. Meaning of that would ideally be to wear shirts without a tie but kept jacket and smart trousers. However, this is not suitable for every occasion, and I absolutely understand this. Even I succumb myself to flow of getting dressed less conventional.

Occasionally I move away from my style that could be described as rather formal than the opposite. It, however, involves beautiful things that, of course, make sense to wear from my point of view.

What I am trying to say that sometimes I want to feel snug. Usually in winter as protection against the annoying cold. And that is perhaps the reason why this Maison Kitsuné hoodie finds its way to my closet.

I wanted a beautiful hoodie for a longer time concerning several reasons, originally from Sunspel or Mr. P. I liked Thom Browne as well, but that price is far from what I've been willing to spend. Maybe someday in the future, I manage to try one of those I mentioned and could do a review of it as well.

As I love tailoring, I have a disease called "must-check-every-detail-if-its-made-perfectly-otherwise-I-wont-spend-anything". That is why I checked every detail within hoodies in different stores, and I was surprised. But not in a pleasant way. For some reason, unlike chinos, knitwear or jacket, I find that even if you want to spend more money than you thought you would on sweats, it is often made very sloppy.

That was probably the first thing I noticed here with my Maison Kitsuné, it is made in a good way, and the fit is just right. Comfort is high, but the cut is not wide. It is actually quite slim.

Last winter I started to wear it with a shirt or/and a coat. It was the "adult" things, thanks to which it was fun for me. And still is. Hoodie over a shirt and under the coat is a snug choice and feels good to me in my free days.

Yet I keep some my "rules". Usually, I don't wear anything in kangaroo pocket as it doesn't look nice. And although I'm wearing a hoodie, I still want my silhouette and overall look to be good as it can be.

Athletic Happy Socks with lightning are a great fun choice

For pulling it out just I did, I recommend white plain sneakers, so it's obvious that you are not mixing more elements from different kind of styles. Could also be leather sneakers in a different colour; for example, Suitsupply has a beautiful piece for this season made of grey flannel. The shirt under should be a comfortable fit because if under comfy hoodie will be a tight shirt, you won't achieve the snug feel and fit.

Pinstripe wool trousers in the navy I enjoy a lot. Nevertheless, you can substitute them for another wool or flannel trousers (If we are talking winter season) or simple chinos (if we are talking all-year). In the case of smart trousers, I would be careful not to choose too much smart ones. Maybe it is not apparent from the photos, but these trousers are made of thicker wool which is moderately rugged. Hence are not too formal, yet smart "just right".

So, how are you with hoodies? What is preferably your way to wear them?

Yours sincerely,

Denis
