I hope you´re familiar with Kingsman collection as Mr. Porter in cooperation with different brands makes clothes from the great movie real. You can buy this collection exclusively on mrporter.com in the focus of quality to dress with an elegant piece and as your favourite character from the film. This last collection is in focus to the movie “The King´s Man” which due to apparent reason was unfortunately not released yet.

The Kingsman collection in cooperation features only well-known manufacturers focused on high-quality and quality material. Such as Johnston of Elgin for scarfs, Deakin & Francis for jewellery or Turnbull & Asser for shirts. Sadly, I did not find out information about manufacturing these Shetland wool sweaters and sweater in general for Mr. Porter´s Kingsman collection.

I only know that it is made of 100% Shetland wool and Made in Scotland. Yet, this Shetland wool is finer than, for example, Jamieson´s.

The sweater is very warm; only I wouldn´t recommend wearing it in windy weather as it is knitted from thicker wool but not very densely. Therefore wind will smoothly go through, and gusts of wind may reduce your warm comfort significantly. It works best with the top layer, such as a flannel suit/jacket, Barbour jacket, any coat and so on.

I am glad for choosing such a “rugged” sweater as it can dress down a suit or add more casual touch when thrown over a shirt. In heated indoor spaces, this is probably too much to wear, but if the room is somewhat colder than warm, you can wear indoor as well. Also regarding colour, this burgundy red may seem to be less smart choice than, e.g. grey; however, I like how it can light up a dark brown jacket or grey suit. My second favourite go-to colour in Shetland wool is purple by Anderson & Sheppard.

A great combination of burgundy red and brown jacket.

As you may see, I allow myself to be more colourful regarding Shetland wool sweater as I think its structure exclude it for wearing formally, therefore no need to hold yourself back that much. Of course, if you´re not used to colours or prefer to lay-low grey will be very versatile and easy to combine with almost everything.

Regarding this specific outfit I am wearing, the combination of wine-coloured chinos with this burgundy red sweater is not intended and poorly chosen. Anyway, I decided to leave it as those colours do not go well as shades of red are close together. This might be okay with blue or grey, but with more eccentric colours this might not work. At least I show you something that is not 100%, in my opinion, and you can do your own picture.

However, I love to wear these chinos with my Barbour jacket as the colour sits well together. That is why I had them for photoshooting. And with this sweater, I mostly wear navy chinos which obviously is an excellent and safe choice. Grey will be a perfect choice, as well.

Do not worry, I have prepared another outfit with this sweater, and that will be much better, use this as acknowledging that not all colours combine well together.

Yours sincerely,

Denis
